  • If you accept eTransfers, make sure you have your account set for auto-deposit, to prevent anyone who might have access to your email address from diverting the e-Transfer to their account.

  • In case you missed it: I'm told the Rogers purchase of Shaw Communications is scheduled to take effect the first week of June, with the changeover for customers happening a month later, in the first week of July. Federal government approval will likely be announced within a week or two. In order to get government approval, I'm told that Rogers has agreed to not only sell off Freedom Mobile, but also Shaw Mobile. Shaw Mobile customers will become Freedom Mobile customers, and I'm told that Freedom will start offering many of the same low rates that Shaw Mobile is offering! Rogers says it's "on track" to finalize the deal before July 1.

  • When Rogers buys Shaw, @shaw.ca emails will, I'm told, be migrated to the awful @yahoo.com platform which Rogers switched its customers to many years ago.  Yahoo email is slow, has low capacity, is data-mined by dozens of Yahoo partner firms, and -- this is the big one -- you cannot automatically forward your emails to another address.  So, if your email address ends in @shaw.ca, please get someone you trust to help you migrate to another provider before the Shaw/Rogers changeover!  We recommend going to @outlook.com from Microsoft, or to @iCloud.com from Apple (if you only use Apple devices).  @icloud.com email does not work well with Windows or Android devices.
